MBC Masr
MBC Masr was launched in 2012. One of the leading satellite channels in Egypt since its inception, it is one of the country’s most popular channels alongside its sister channels MBC and MBC Masr 2.
A private Arabic-language channel, it provides free content, mainly entertainment and current affairs. In 2014, the channel has been hosting the El Bernameg show of comedian Bassem Youssef (that CBC dropped in November 2013), only to drop it as well.
Its board is headed by owner Walid Al Ibrahim, one of the wealthiest Saudi Arabian businessmen. Mohamed Abdel Motaal is the Director General of MBC network. As such, he heads MBC Masr.
